2022 Scholarships Report - Submitted by Carolyn Darcey
Our first scholarship recipient is Vicky Huang. Vicky is a Computer Science major who intends to pursue a career as a Software Developer. When she was 4 years old, she was diagnosed with a spinal cord disorder that affected her nervous system on the right side of her body. She has been learning how to adapt to her disability ever sense. She has relied on wheelchairs, walkers and orthotic braces in the past; however, she was able to walk up to the stage to accept her scholarship.
The second student we were honored to award a scholarship was Megan Baldwin. Megan intends to major in Film and Environmental Studies. She plans on becoming a documentary filmmaker, specifically making nature documentaries. She hopes to educate people about climate change and inspire them to do their part to make a difference in the world. Megan believes that people are more likely to want to make a difference when they are educated, and she wants her future work to show people the issues the world is facing.
The final 2022 scholarship recipient is Amanda Wong. Amanda is majoring in Public Health and intends to pursue a career as a Public Health Official or Physician Assistant. She is constantly humbled and inspired by the people who dedicate their lives to serving others. With a Public Health degree and unyielding determination, she plans on tackling epidemics that compromise the health of Americans, especially in underrepresented communities. She plans on continuing to learn about the intersection of health and community to find effective ways to prioritize accessible healthcare and healthy lifestyles.
